Este proyecto consiste en el desarrollo de una herramienta que simula enlaces de fibra optica de un sistema de video vigilancia bajo fibra optica que fue disenada para la autoridad portuaria puerto Bolivar sobre topologia en estrella extendida. El simulador fue implementado en el software MATLAB a traves de su interfaz grafica GUIDE, donde se hicieron calculos para presupuesto de perdidas, que contiene la perdida total en el enlace, presupuestos de ancho de banda, que se desglosa en dispersion total, velocidad, ancho de banda optico y ancho de banda electrico de cada enlace, ademas de mostrar un grafico atenuacion vs. distancia a lo largo del enlace en el que el usuario tiene la libertad de colocar la ubicacion de los empalmes. La simulacion se desarrolla sobre dos esquemas propuestos los cuales poseen distintos fabricantes de equipos opticos y fibras opticas y que en base al resultado de presupuesto de perdidas se concluira si el enlace simulado es factible para su uso en la vida real.
