There's the pretty, but shy, Ellen (Joanna Chilcoat); the oversensitive Michael (Robin De Jesus); the stuck up Jill (Alana Allen); the tormented, overweight Jenna (Tiffany Taylor); the scheming Fritzi (Anna Kendrick); and the beautiful Dee (Sasha Allen). In awe of the camp's guest instructor, Bert Hanley (Don Dixon), Vlad is crushed to discover that he has become a bitter, cynical alcoholic. Amidst the raging hormones and daily melodramas, the kids must nonetheless concentrate on the task at hand, which includes staging the summer's final production. Determined not to succumb to Bert's negative influence, Vlad convinces everyone to stage a performance that will inspire everyone. Using a cast of incredibly talented unknowns, Graff makes certain that each budding superstar has their moment to shine. The Best of the Best
The delight of this film was totally unexpected. The performances by the young cast were brilliant, the plot interesting, and the uplifting message to one's humanity was ever so welcome. I was driving through the Catskills recently with a friend, and we saw a sign for "Stagedoor Manor." I'd heard about this summer theater camp for kids, but had never been there. We met the owners and some of the staff and they gave us a tour of the entire facility--seven theaters, dorms, recreation areas, and costume shops. In the process they told us that the movie "Camp" had been filmed there. That's why I bought it. By the way, there is also a documentary about the camp called "Stagedoor" which was released this year. Look for both of these fine films! Brent BuellThe delight of this film was totally unexpected. Great music, great cast. Must see for any ex drama geek
This movie is amazing. I bought it by mistake the first time I owned it and ended up watching it every day after. I was heartbroken when I lost my copy and was ecstatic to be able to find it on Ebay. The stories are real, the cast is amazingly talented. At times the acting can be a bit awkward, but as teenagers, which of us weren't awkward? Worth watching for any one who was ever a drama geek. It brings back so many memories of what our lives were like back stage... the real drama :DThis movie is amazing. Unlike any movie I've seen - this is a real original. With quirky characters, each one entertaining in their own way as a cast of oddball kids who learn to accept themselves by spending the summer at Camp Ovation with a director who, in an attempt to save them from themselves, learns to accept them and himself as they are, this movie had me thoroughly engaged. The occassional song and dance performance added to my enjoyment. Super quirky and fun, I recommend this if you're looking for out of the ordinary entertainment and a must see for misfits and anyone who played a part in their high school musical.Unlike any movie I've seen - this is a real original.
