Just unscrew the base from the seat usually four bolts then knock the bottom / legs off with nylon headed mallet or wrap a cloth around a heavy hammer then knock the the top metal base off same way then just push new one in then screw back on to bottom of seat as good as new, JOB done!. I bought a slightly longer one as I like my legs to dangle but it still goes lower if required.
