About this product
Product Information
Our endless use of smartphones, unbridled internet access, and the ubiquity of applications on these platforms has affected the ways we think, feel, and behave. Setting aside issues of goodness or harmfulness of the internet and related technologies, chapters in this edited volume investigate the impact of technology through the lens of human capacity. Each chapter considers a different aspect of the ways in which humans, with limited information processing capabilities, interact with an almost infinite informational environment. The authors examine what makes these technologies so addictive, their effect on emotional well-being, memory, and learning, and their impact on our ability to engage in important daily activities, like driving a car. Other contributors discuss how to replenish depleted cognitive reserves, and offer recommendations to help us chart a way forward in today's attention economy.

Seller Feedback (2,729)
- s***s (2970)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseCondition excellent, as described, well packaged, dispatched promptly.Excellent communication from seller. Arrived ahead of anticipated delivery dates. ARRIVED 1st May, expectected between 24th May and 3rd June. Thank you. No import tax payable. A very pleasing experience. Would recommend this seller. A book l have been seeking to replace for 7 years after it got misplaced when moving house after bereavement.
- a***l (338)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseAlthough the description details were misleading, the customer support was rather good. I ordered the 2-volume set of ‘Atlas Shrugged’, but received a single volume. It might not seem like much to others, but it’s a large book and a 2-set volume would have made it easier to read. In addition, poor packaging damaged the DJ. Anyways, after sending firm, yet precise and polite emails, the situation was promptly resolved, hence the positive feedback; and, why I would buy again from the seller. 👍
- c***r (537)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseBook as specified, rapid delivery (from USA to UK), and a reasonable price for the book. Overall, my book arrived in "ok quality" packaging. A padded "book mailer" envelope was used. However, inside, there was no other protective packaging. One small point of constructive feedback: perhaps cardboard packaging could have been implemented, as a number of competing book sellers are now implementing cardboard packaging, especially for higher price books subject to international delivery.
