Reviews
" World Event Trading: How to Analyze and Profit from Today's Headlines is one of the more unique and interesting financial books that I have read in quite a while. Though often times trading books deal with the minutia of market movements, Andrew examines three types of world events: infectious diseases, natural disasters, and politics, from a historical perspective before showing how all three impact the financial markets." Synopsis
In an age of twenty-four-hour news coverage and cutting-edge technology, world events dominate our lives and impact the financial markets. From hurricanes to the war in Iraq, we exist in a crazy, connect-the-dot planet. However, the well-prepared investor can turn these events into profits. All they need is the ability to recognize the consistent characteristics of these events and the vision to build a strategy or portfolio that can take advantage of these situations when they begin to unfold. As a foreign exchange strategist with over twenty years of financial experience, author Andrew Busch knows what it takes to make it in today's dynamic market. And now, with World Event Trading, he wants to show you how. Filled with in-depth insights and expert advice, this practical guide examines three categories of world events--infectious diseases, natural disasters, and politics--and provides hands-on strategies for trading profitably on each. Using actual examples of the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, and other recent "page one stories," Busch shows you how to understand all-important market moods and anticipate profitable trades. He also reveals little-known details on legendary event-driven trading successes, illustrating how any trader can repeat them in different market environments. Andrew Busch is the Global FX Market Strategist for BMO Financial Group's Investment Banking Division in Chicago. He is a recognized expert on the world financial markets and how these markets are impacted by political events. Busch's views appear in his daily newsletter, the Busch Update, which reaches 5,000 investors and financial professionals. He also writes a weekly column that appears on The Globe and Mail Web site on Fridays and in print on Mondays (circulation 40,000). Busch makes weekly appearances on CNBC's Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo and is frequently quoted by the Wall Street Journal as well as other news services. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and received an MBA from the University of Chicago., Praise for World Event Trading "In the ever-converging global economy, everything impacts the capital markets. Andy has a rare skill: translating in crisp, clear, and vivid language how global and geopolitical events impact the financial markets and create profit-making opportunities. Like Andys daily newsletter, this book is a must-read for everyone who wants to understand the global markets and how the news of the day influences, drives, and determines those markets." --Rob Nichols, President and COO, Financial Services Forum, and former Assistant Secretary of the United States Treasury for Public Affairs "As a currency portfolio manager and trader, I have been a reader of Mr. Buschs daily reports for over five years. Andy is unique in his ability to link disparate themes from around the world into a coherent strategy for making money in the financial markets. As someone who has managed billions of U.S. dollars in the currency markets for over thirty years, I can say that his book is essential for understanding how financial markets react to todays world events." --Eric Nelson, Senior Portfolio Manager, FX Concepts "Seizing the trading opportunity around current events was once the sole province of the professional: no more. Andy shines a light on some of the techniques that have turned ordinary traders into incredibly successful (and rich) ones. With wit and clarity, he connects the dots in a way that few can--and shows how just about anyone can profit from even the worst of news." --Amanda Lang, Anchor, BNNs SqueezePlay "Wall Street analysts can predict corporate earnings or the unemployment rate, but geopolitical events are the great wild card. They can have an enormous impact on many markets, not just on stocks. As a result, savvy analysts like Andy Busch are increasingly important in the financial world. His commentary is invaluable because it makes all of us smarter investors." --Greg Valliere, Chief Political Strategist, Stanford Washington Research Group "There are many factors that affect financial markets. Most economists and strategists analyze these factors from a macroeconomic perspective. This book takes an entirely different approach by showing how headlines can make a significant impact on financial markets. I strongly recommend this book to every serious trader." --George A-Ting Chou, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan), In an age of twenty-four-hour news coverage and cutting-edge technology, world events dominate our lives and impact the financial markets. From hurricanes to the war in Iraq, we exist in a crazy, connect-the-dot planet. However, the well-prepared investor can turn these events into profits.

Although this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.

I've ordered several items from this vendor now and they've always been what they were advertised as. This was no exception. Both discs were in great shape as well as their jewel cases. Delivery is good, packaging is simple but effective for what you're paying and I haven't had any get damaged. Will keep buying from this vendor because of the results so far and good prices, too.
