Reviews
A most valuable and readable overview of the many evidential changes of landscape that 20th century science is furnishing to the oldest question in Western civilization: Is there a God?, In clear prose and brief chapters, Flew explains the four lines of evidence that convinced him....An intellectual conversion of great significance., Towering and courageous... Flew's colleagues in the church of fundamentalist atheism will be scandalized., A stellar philosophical mind ponders the latest scientific results. The conclusion: a God stands behind the rationality of nature., A fascinating record .it will come as a most uncomfortable jolt to those who were once his fellow atheists., The most lucid and penetrative pieces of philosophical theology to appear in years, altogether brilliant., Antony Flew not only has the philosophical virtues; he has the virtues of the philosopher. Civil in argument, relentlessly reasonable…., A very clear and readable book tracing his path back to theism, revealing his total openness to new rational arguments., A fascinating record …it will come as a most uncomfortable jolt to those who were once his fellow atheists., Antony Flew not only has the philosophical virtues; he has the virtues of the philosopher. Civil in argument, relentlessly reasonable.., "In clear prose and brief chapters, Flew explains the four lines of evidence that convinced him....An intellectual conversion of great significance." (Denver Post), Antony Flew's book will incense atheists who suppose (erroneously) that science proves there is no God.

Unfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.

Although this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.

The item arrived exactly as described and was well-packaged to ensure its safety during transit. The seller was courteous and responsive, making the entire transaction smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend this seller to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service.

  • A scholarly work, not for the average reader. The popular-sounding title is misleading.

Sadly, I bought this book thinking I'd love it, but after reading through the first quarter of it, I gave up. I was hoping to read how the author's ideas and conclusions changed over time resulting in a 180 degree turnaround in his thinking. The book uses scholarly language and makes constant references to other books he has written, universities where he has lectured, and professors, seminars, think tanks, etc. that I have no knowledge of. It does not seem to have been written with an average reader in mind, but rather for someone who has already read all the literature on the subject published over the last sixty years. I would not recommend this to a friend unless the friend is a philosophy professor.

  • convincing logical proof

This explains exactly what convinced professor Flew that he was mistaken. Scientific and logical arguments set out in an interesting and easy to understand format. I highly recommend this book to any atheist or agnostic with an open mind.
