Nice radio with issues
For starters the photo is misleading: the radio appears to have an anodized gold finish, but is actually beige—like a Starbucks bottled Frappuccino. It’s a nice enough color, but not when you expect a different hue and texture. The look and sound have a charming retro quality, warm and comforting, but not high fidelity; it’s not a bargain Bose. The tuning selectivity is disappointing. The loose wire antenna they supplied was useless. Fortunately I had a spare powered indoor antenna that helped, but even then I had to align it precisely to get a decent signal from our local NPR broadcast tower less than 10 miles away. Now that it’s working well and I’ve adjusted to the color, I’m happy with it. I love the retro styling and it fits nicely in our kitchen—and my wife loves it unconditionally. So there you have it. If you buy one, I recommend you go to Radio Shack first and pick up a powered FM antenna before you open the box.
