About this product
Product Information
The Moral Case for Profit Maximization argues that profit maximization is moral when businessmen seek to maximize profit by creating goods or services that are of objective value. Traditionally, profit maximization has been defended on economic grounds. Profit, economists argue, incentivizes businessmen to produce goods and services. In this view, businessmen do not need to be virtuous as long as they deliver the goods. It challenges the traditional defense of profit maximization, arguing that profit maximization is morally ambitious because it requires businessmen to form normative abstractions and to cultivate a virtuous character. In so doing, the author also challenges the moral basis of corporate social responsibility. Proponents of CSR argue that businessmen can do good while doing well. This book argues that businessmen already do good by maximizing profit, drawing upon the histories of the wheel, the refrigerator, and the shipping container, as well as the biographies of J. P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, and Thomas Edison to demonstrate the role of values in the creation of material goods and the role of the virtues in value creation. The author challenges readers to rethink the relationship between profit, value, and virtue.

- e***e (657)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem as described, well packaged, great price, unfortunately it took 9 days to arrive from stated dispatch date and seller didn’t respond to my request to investigate why tracking was still showing it as awaiting dispatch for a number of days.
- e***d (17)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived earlier than expected, long delivery time but isn’t necessarily the sellers fault only standard shipping available. Item decently packaged could have been more securely packaged though. Good price compared to other marketplaces and sellers. I cannot comment on the seller’s communication as I did not contact the seller. Overall good experience only complaint would be delivery time but again this isn’t solely the sellers fault.
- n***w (3)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived on time and was packaged well. The item was exactly as advertised and was amazing value compared to other places. The seller was also incredibly speedy at replying to my enquiries. Although it was not the fault of the seller (the packaging used to send the item was more than sufficient), my figure did have a manufacturing defect (the left hand was broken off). Thankfully superglue put it back in place and no one can tell it was broken.Ichibansho Figure Dragon Ball Demon Piccolo Daimaoh(Ex Mystical Adventure) (#375870724809)
