After two decades, they're as sick of their characters as they are of one another--that is, until a group of aliens offers them the opportunity to play their roles in a way the actors never could have imagined.Having no concept of fiction--let alone science fiction--the aliens whisk "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" and his crew into space to save them from obliteration.With no script, no director, and no clue about real space travel, the actors have to turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the aliens believe them to be.
