excellent high end lens
This lens is extremely sharp from center to corner. Colors are beautifully rendered. I really like the focal length and the 1/3 life size close-focusing capability. It also seems to be well-built.

Classic meets modern
Zeiss is a historic company in the photo world. Part of the reason I switched to Sony was to use the Zeiss Batis line, and I have no regrets. The lens is fast focusing, has a nice close focus distance, and the colors are nice. I rarely have to adjust the color with this lens.

Durable as in it’s not going to break if your drop it but DON’T F****** DROP IT
It’s a sturdy, metal lens. Has a little weight to it. It’s weather sealed. It’ll survive a fall or two but you SHOULDN’T be dropping a Batis. Understand this lens will last forever if you take care of it.
