    Great midi controller and very well made

    This item is the 3rd Maschine pad controller made by Kontakt and extremely versatile when used as a midi controller, that said it comes into it's own when used the Kontakt software. This is when you can produce beats and samples used in many different kinds music. The item must be registered with Kontakt, so if buying 2nd hand (It works as plug and play though) just make sure you get the original documentation from the seller, this way you get this item with all the bells and whistles.

    Mikro in size, not micro in quality

    After years of programming drums from a keyboard, I decided that finger drumming could bring the fresh approach I was looking for. I chose the Maschine Mikro based on consistently positive users' recommendations (mainly from YouTube videos). Using the pads in Mikro's MIDI mode is my primary interest (for triggering virtual drum software), and as such buying this may seem overkill as I have no particular use for its internal sounds and sequencing functions. The quality, playability and responsiveness of the pads was my only concern, and in that respect NI have done a brilliant job. NI hardware in general is very well made, and this unit feels solid and sturdy. There are cheaper alternatives, but I felt it worth paying extra for the superior pads and the build quality.

    Versatile & excellent value

    I've only scratched the surface and already it's clear this is a very powerful and versatile instrument. Combined with the Native Instruments software it's a great way to make music. I would strongly recommend NOT buying one that doesn't come with software, which can be the case with some B stock.
