The DVD arrived on Wednesday 10th April and in good condition. However it stated it was in very good condition when there are scratches on the disc and therefore should be described as just good condition.

The Moon & New York City

This is such a wonderful movie that shows a guy who is so wealthy he has the moon in his hands yet as in real life you can have all the money in the world and never be truly happy. Dudley Moore plays this part you really can relate to the happiness the fun the heartache and with a heart warming style he has towards his butler played by Sir John Geilgood, its a typical movie that can make you smile make laugh and mand you cry. Just cause Arthur has all the money he can handle he's not happy and then forced into a arranged marriage than he doesn't want but if he does he inherites $750 million dollars but Arther has other ideas after meeting up with Liza Minnelli to which she's an ordinary girl making ends meet a little shoplifting to where Arthur saves her from the cops and the romance ...

    Very bad sound quality.

The picture shown as the DVD cover is not the one I received. I received the one with the mainly red cover. Let's talk about the audio. The sound is so poor! You have to turn the volume up so high just to hear it and then quality of the sound is so bad! Also, there are no subtitles whatsoever so that can't rescue the situation either. We watched it for 10 minutes and decided it was unbearable. We're going to wait for it to hopefully be on T.V. again. P.S. Apparently the only difference between the DVD with the mainly golden cover (as shown) and the one with the red cover is that the red cover is paper and the golden one is card. I thought I was buying a different version of the DVD as I already have the red one :(

  • Nearly 30 years on, still stands up for warmth and laughs

The recent 'reboot' starring Russell Brand has its own merits but this original from the 1980s still stands up in its own right. Dudley Moore makes alcoholism seem charming and a jolly good fun- if you have endless supplies of dosh to fund your escapades of course. Liza Minnelli is suitably doe-eyed as the girl from the wrong side of town - if you can overlook the fact that it's Liza frickin' Minnelli, that is. Best by far, in my opinion, is Sir John Gielgud as long-suffering butler, Hudson. He steals this picture, I find, with his lugubrious delivery. A modern classic? Maybe, but avoid at all costs the lamentable sequel, Arthur 2 On the Rocks.

  • Funny film

Its a all-time brilliant film , all the cast play great characters, and its just funny all the way through apart from when Hobson dies which is a tearfull afair.

  • A milestone in my life and will always be.

I first saw this film back in the early eighties at the cinema and then promptly had to go and see it again as most of the gags I missed the first time because the whole cinema was laughing. It’s a brilliant film and well worth a watch. The late Dudley Moore, fresh with his success from his previous film “10” (with Bo Derek) is absolutely prefect for this role and to see the normally serious distinguished actor John Giegud playing the part of Arthur’s Butler was tremendous. My three daughters watched it with me this time and they too found it hilarious.
