  • Roy Clarke's whimsical sitcom.

I am big fan of Roy Clarke's writing, so I enjoyed this DVD. Although I have to admit that it wasn't up to the standard of some of his other shows and I could tell why it only ran the one series, all of his usual characters are here. His use of words is wonderful and all his characters work well together. I was particularly impressed with Clive Merrison, who I had never seen in this type of role. As I missed the show when it was on television in 1985, it was good to catch up with it on DVD.
