  • Her Last Great Album

If you need to purchase Joni's last great album, this one is it. The material is so rich and layered, and Joni's dusty smoky voice (from her pack a day habit) only adds to the lyrical feel of the entire album. The arrangements have also stepped up several notches from previous Joni releases. It's hard to describe it, if you're a Joni fan, you definitely won't be disappointed. This album was a surprise winner as it beat out Mariah Carey's heavily hyped "Daydreams" to win Best Pop Album in 1996. I can see why it captured the Grammy. As is the case with most Joni releases, repeated listens get better and better. Arguably this is Joni's last recording considered to be "essential" listening.

  • Vocal depth with gorgeous orchestration

Beautiful production. Joni Mitchell's voice here is rich with depth. Her two originals and ten jazz standards in this album are rendered with incredible depth and beauty. Expect something different if you are accustomed to the youthful J.M. voice.

  • LOST GEM OF JONI THE QUEEN OF FOLK - JAZZ ROCK !!

I saw JONI sing "SEX KILLS" in a vintage video & began checking out the tracks on this album & was pleasantly surprised at how GREAT it is!! The songs are well-recorded & I felt as if I'd found a lost gem. If you like JONI like I do THE best deal on this album is on Ebay :)

  • Joni M. is the best!

Joni Mitchell is in a class by herself. This CD is amazing. Her lyrics and her voice make this special.

  • another great one

A great album by a great talent, what more can be said? There are some songs I like more than others but they're all good. Her voice doesn't have the same range as in her earlier work. That doesn't mean it's bad just different. In fact I like it better. Like all of her other albums it took me a couple of listens to appreciate it. What can I say, I come from a generation that was raised on Foreigner,Styx, Boston etc. I bought this album because I had read that it had won a grammy and was initially disappointed. This is grammy material? After a little while I finally "got" it and realized it is. Trust me
