For someone looking for a cheap distillation setup this seems to be a good product. Firstly, the glass is relatively thick which means that it should be mechanically robust but it is more vulnerable to thermal shock. As such, when heating the flask, be sure to heat it evenly to reduce the chance of it breaking. Mine survived being heated with an open flame. The stopper is TERRIBLE quality. The glass was clearly moulded is full of bubbles, and had some VERY sharp edges on it which I had to remove. Additionally, I think the stopper is made of normal soda-lime glass and not borosilicate. This means that when the flask and stopper heat up the stopper gets stuck and can't be removed which is very annoying and I guess could be quite hazardous. Also the stopper size is 24/26 which isn't a standard size, I am hoping it will fit a replacement 24/40 stopper but won't know until that arrives. Some quick notes on usage: Firstly the cooling tube running through the condenser is quite thin. If you heat the liquid you're trying to distil too quickly then the condenser will end up flooded (full of liquid) and then because the passageway is so narrow the pressure builds up.... Luckily for me the joint between the flask and condenser popped free but if they had jammed then the glassware could have broken/burst/exploded. Secondly, the very long neck on the flask makes cleaning very difficult. I was having a go at distilling rosemary and found it quite difficult to remove the pieces afterwards.Read full review

Robust and it works.

would have been great but the glass stopper was stuck hard onto the neck of the distillation flask. Still working on removing it!
