Hendrix in a crossfire hurricane of beautiful funk
First Rays of The New Rising Sun. A beautiful and mature album. The sound quality is superb, as good as the three JHE albums – Mitch Mitchell is present on most of the tracks. Hendrix was progressing into sophisticated funk jazz and it's GREAT! Hendrix solos superbly throughout – often with imaginative multitracking techniques. With its sweet tender Hendrix vocal – this album is worth buying for ANGEL alone. Standout sci-fi slide guitar track ROOM FULL OF MIRRORS – but every track is a joy and the final solos in STEPPING STONE will have you smiling and nodding your head. Woooooooo what a ride! this album for me has all the hallmarks of the genius that hendrix was, at his absolute best. the shift away in the main from his traditional blues roots to a more progressive and experimental phase shown in the electric ladyland album is expanded further here. many of the tracks, which were originally rush released after jimis death onto vinyl in the form of the album rainbow bridge, and later,cry of love, are here. For me, just about to break into my early teens as these albums became popular, they revolutionised my musical taste and thinking. a marvellously evocative collection which highlights the mans instrumental virtuosity and songwriting skills coupled with a vocal ability which brings tears to the eyes of many fans, like myself, who remember the era in which these tracks were ... this album for me has all the hallmarks of the genius that hendrix was, at his absolute best. the shift away in the main from his traditional blues roots to a more progressive and experimental phase shown in the electric ladyland album is expanded further here. many of the tracks, which were originally rush released after jimis death onto vinyl in the form of the album rainbow bridge, and later,cry of love, are here. This cd is amazing.it is a great follow on from electric ladyland.It's a shame though that jimi didnt get the chance to complete it,but anyway this is a must have for any Hendrix fan.

Hendrix in fine form
I bought this for my husband who is a huge Hendrix fan. It does not contain any exclusives but is a solid delivery of classics and a few less usual tracks. Definately one to buy if you are a serious fan!
