Visit the actual bridge and then watch the film - very moving
We bought the DVD having just visited the actual bridge over the River Kwai. Unfortunately the filming didn't take place where the actual bridge was built, so it was a little disappointing. However, it was still interesting to watch the film again, having read so much in museums around the area, and it made the awful events so much more alive. If you ever get the chance to visit Kanchanaburi and the surrounding area, I recommend you take it, and pay homage to the thousands who sacrificed their lives there.We bought the DVD having just visited the actual bridge over the River Kwai. However, it was still interesting to watch the film again, having read so much in museums around the area, and it made the awful events so much more alive. THE DISK APPEARS TO BE DAMAGED AS IT STICKS IN VARIOUS PLACES THROUGHOUT THE PLAYBACK IT IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE TO REPOST IT BUT IM NOT HAPPY AS YOU CAN IMAGINE

One of the Greatest Films ever made.
A classic, that is as entertaining now, as 60 years ago. Made only 12 years after the war and so would have been a delicate subject for many ex prisoners. Thought provoking examination of pride amongst soldiers, although the British would have been slaughtered immediately, if they had shown the insolence that they did in this film. Still a wonderful film, everyone should see at least once.
