Fine, gentle comedy about two NY lads charged with murder in Alabama, and the engaged Brooklyn couple (Pesci & Tomei) who try to get them off. Avoiding obvious race and prison-bullying territory, the film makes a virtue of the contrasts between NY & Alabama. Against type, it is Pesci who is initially out of his professional depth. The young comic genius, Tomei, shows she can be funny in a dozen different moods.
