I was so used to these link extractors/chain splitters only lasting once or twice that I was impressed with this one. Easy to use with good features, like the spring, that comes included, to hold the chain while you work on it. Very handy. Helps when you need three hands & only have two. I would recommend this tool, to my mind, one of the better designed ones available. It comes with a spare pin included, also very handy. For the money ( £4.00 approx.) this is a very good & useful tool. Forget the cheapest ones, get this one!

There is a lot of play in the threads so the bolt used to insert any chain linking pin can easily become mis aligned. I used the tool to remove an old chain and to shorten a new chain. It worked very well removing the chain pins. When joining a new chain the tool was not easy to use because of the lack quality and poor tolerances. I used a Shimano joining pin, this is tapered, ensuring easier alignment when inserting the new pin, the tool was adequate for the job.

Far to much play, plastic handle and doesn't give the torque you need to get the pin through. Review was the only chain tool you'll ever want. Complete crap. Plastic handle so you would think the thread would be really tight to allow load of torque. Nope, had a mare to get the pin out but managed it. But getting the new on in OMG absolute mare. Finally got the guide pin through so you'd think it would be a simple case of turning but then the handle broke! So now I will need to get another, but not this one!

A much more ergonomic tool than ones I have previously had as it is very nice to hold and the twist handle isn't the typical painful cast iron you find on these cheap tools. Unfortunately the metal is quite week so you must make sure it is perfectly lined up otherwise it'll bend.

Used this on kmc chains after going to my local bike shop for chain off cuts to test this tool out. I have never done any bike repairs and had no idea what to do so went to you tube and watched a few videos. Soon had the idea of what to do and this tool performed very well. I did discover a small problem with this tool that being the cutting part of the tool was not very tight yet still worked. After taking this apart and tightening things up with a spanner it performed with no problems. every chain cut was a few links and a few hours later ran out of chains to cut. This tool never let me down and was very well priced. Save your money and buy this tool rather than something overpriced that may not do the same job as this one does and you find you just wasted your money on overpriced tack rubbish. I will be buying some more of these when time permits.!!!Read full review
