About this product

Product Information

Before The Matrix, before Star Wars, before Ender's Game and Neuromancer, there was Dune: winner of the prestigious Hugo and Nebula awards, and widely considered one of the greatest science fiction novels ever written. Melange, or 'spice', is the most valuable - and rarest - element in the universe; a drug that does everything from increasing a person's life-span to making intersteller travel possible. And it can only be found on a single planet: the inhospitable desert world Arrakis. Whoever controls Arrakis controls the spice. And whoever controls the spice controls the universe. When the Emperor transfers stewardship of Arrakis from the noble House Harkonnen to House Atreides, the Harkonnens fight back, murdering Duke Leto Atreides. Paul, his son, and Lady Jessica, his concubine, flee into the desert. On the point of death, they are rescued by a band for Fremen, the native people of Arrakis, who control Arrakis' second great resource: the giant worms that burrow beneath the burning desert sands. In order to avenge his father and retake Arrakis from the Harkonnens, Paul must earn the trust of the Fremen and lead a tiny army against the innumerable forces aligned against them. And his journey will change the universe.

It is in good condition considering it's second hand, no crease in the spine the only sign of previous use is a couple of stains. Also very good price considering the size of the book, lastly it came really quickly after ordering. I love ordering second hand books and I'll definitely buy form this seller again. 😁

    Sci Fi Classic

I have read about this book being the best Sci fi book ever and with the film being released soon, I had to check it out. I received this book very quickly and in perfect condition. I'm about a third through it now and it's fantastic. We've joined Duke Leto and his family on a new planet where water is so sparse the natives wear special suits that hold onto all body moisture. There's a snake in the Duke's personnel and the wild natives are suspicious of this Duke and his new customs. Within a day his young son is nearly assassinated in his bed and there is a prophecy of something great coming. It's a thrilling story, I'm enjoying it greatly and also looking forward to the film coming out.

  • Exceptional.

I first read DUNE when I was in my teens and (50 years later) it holds together remarkably well. Brilliantly imagined and incredibly wide-ranging. Frank Herbert's ability to imagine and create is exceptional. Magic.

  • Great!

Came with some minor wear around the edges but more than acceptable for the price & advertised quality. Judging by the spine it was unread.

  • Dune (Frank Herbert)

This is a very compelling book. The length should not be a put-off to less experienced readers, it is a very good book that you won’t be able to put down.

  • Timeless Classic......

So far ahead of its time when it was written it is still just as compelling as any of the more recent saga’s. The definition of a timeless classic!
