Providing speedy Ethernet connectivity with a forwarding bandwidth of up to 16 Gbps, this switch is highly reliable and quick. The 24-port 10/100 Ethernet modules provide you with the ability to connect multiple routers, printers, and computers. These ports also support the use of voice over internet protocol phones. The Cisco Catalyst series PoE switch features Cisco IOS software. This software has a built-in LAN Base and LAN Lite applications. When you are ready to set up an internal communications system for your networked devices, these Cisco Catalyst series switches make the process efficient and simple. They have SmartOperations tools that simplify deployment. The installed flash memory allows you to collect data from the devices and use it for creating performance reports. The SmartOperations helps you to lower the cost per watt of Ethernet and maximize your investment. This rack-mountable ws-c2960-24pc-l series switch is easy to install. Each of its gigabit Ethernet ports has a LED indicator that glows green to show that it is operational. This Cisco Catalyst ws-c2960-24pc-l series switch has a built-in 370-watt PoE power supply. This power supply delivers 30 watts of power over Ethernet to each of the ports. The ports are also outfitted with SFP connectivity to work with older routers and equipment. The 2x1G dual purpose SFP allows you to move your router and devices as needed. The copper 1000 BASE-T and optical t/SFP Gigabit Ethernet uplink options allow you to expand your networks as your business grows. The Cisco Catalyst series switches are compliant with IEEE 802.3af for Power over Ethernet (PoE). The flexible authentication of this IEEE package enhances your network's security. This PoE switch also features a traffic monitoring mode, port security, and IP source guard. These options help to prevent an unauthorized access or request of your data. Its static IPV4 routing for conventional wired access networks provides you with multiple data protection layers. When new devices are connected to these Cisco Catalyst series switches, the product's zero-touch application automatically recognizes them. This fast deployment includes processes for configuring the switch interface and image. These features decrease the setup time for your equipment and allow the switch to function as a plug-and-play device. This Catalyst switch is also enabled with Cisco's EnergyWise program. The EnergyWise program allows the Catalyst to control the power consumed at each endpoint. It also powers down the switches during limited traffic conditions. This helps with both energy use totals as well as control of heat in large network systems. Enhanced security options ensure Cisco technology boosts networking performance. This type of network switch also keeps everything safe and secure using proprietary software that makes a network all but impossible to hack. This is an excellent switch to use for my home office!
Cisco switches are stable and an industry standard. I needed a PoE switch to run all of my home lab video collaboration setup. This Cisco 2960 PoE is a life saver and was an excellent price. I would recommend it to anyone!

Cisco products normally built to last however this unit w/fan noise tells me this unit has been extensively utilized.
Per physical appearance switch looks fine however it sounds like a possible fan replacement may be required in the future. Has a one year warranty and 30 day return policy. Sitting on fence contemplating which way to go. Not relishing the idea of having to box / ship unit for replacement (during holidays).
