Reviews
' "A Week in Winter" by Marcia Willett is a wonderful moving story of family and values set in the English countryside. It is very reminiscent of the novels of Pilcher and Binchy. I'm so glad Ms. Willett is following in their footsteps!' Marilyn Sieb, Books & Company, Oconomowoc, WI, '...a story that holds your attention and makes you want to keep reading to the last page' Dartmoor News, 'Here is a great family story of a kind we don't see many of nowadays. The attitudes of love for an old house leads people in the process of separating to come together again. An extraordinary story. I really enjoyed it!' Elizabeth Roosevelt, The Book Mark Café, Long Island, 'Once again another gem emerges from Great Britain. Rosamund Pilcher first made the crossing, then Joanna Trollope, now Marcia Willet has brought us a lovely contemporary novel of the finest caliber.' Book nominations from Sally Brewster, Little Professor, 'A wonderful book about relationships. Willett has an easy-to-read writing style with strong characters. Just a nice calm book - I really enjoyed it!' Melissa Baker, Bestsellers, Mason, MI, 'I really enjoyed it and I read it in a day and a half - was hard to put down. It did remind me of Pilcher and Binchy, this should be an easy hard sell for me. Thank you for the readers copy' Pat Elms, Sharon's Books, Auburn, CA, 'Everything Thomas L Dunne said about this book is true. I look forward to stocking it in our Bookshop. Besides doing book reviews for the local Literary Club, I also have a monthly Readers Group at the store and will enjoy sharing this wonderful book with them all. Thank you for sending us an advance copy. I read into the night and get up early to read before work!' Dee Moeller, Volume One Book Shop, 'If you're a fan of the kind of women's fiction penned by Pilcher or Binchy, here's a new voice' Poisoned Pen

Synopsis
Every once in a while a very special story comes along that deserves an enormous cozy chair with a view of rolling hills, a fire snapping quietly in the hearth, a cup of real cocoa in a favorite mug, and a plate of homemade cookies. A Week in Winter is such a tale. Moorgate is an enchanting old country house that belongs to Maudie Todhunter, a spirited widow who has been holding on to the place for the sake of her beloved granddaughter. But Maudie can no longer afford a second home, so she reluctantly puts it up for sale. Moorgate immediately attracts more buyers than Maudie knows what to do with. The first is Selina, her stepdaughter, who has never seen eye-to-eye with Maudie on anything. The second potential buyer is Rob Abbot, a contractor who has lovingly restored every nook and cranny and who is embarrassed by his own passionate devotion to the house. The third is Melissa Clayton, a young woman with a sad, sad secret who discovers at Moorgate all she's ever wanted. As the story weaves between the past and present, Maudie is startled to uncover patterns of deceit and betrayal that contradict all her most cherished beliefs. At times it seems that her most trustworthy companion is her granddaughter's giant English mastiff Polonius, who is boarding with Maudie after having been banished from his own home by an irate Selina. As the final revelations stun both Maudie and the reader, A Week in Winter achieves a combined richness of character and circumstance that raises it above most modern contemporary fiction. Marcia Willett is a writer to discover and to celebrate., Marcia Willett's delightful new novel is a wonderful story of love and friendship, set against the dramatic beauty of Dartmoor, When Maudie Todhunter finally decides she must sell Moorgate, her beautiful farmhouse on the edge of Bodmin Moor, she anticipates strong objections from her family - particularly from Selina, her stepdaughter, with whom she has never seen eye to eye. But no one could have predicted the feelings that Moorgate evokes or the consequences...

Package was delayed ( by bad weather) and then misplaced at PO( placed in wrong box #) but I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and I got my item today. This seller went the extra mile and I would highly recommend them and will shop here again. I also want to say the price for this complete hard to find item was way below most of the other listings. Condition was good as stated, and although I've only watched the first disc it's quality is good. - 6***t (479)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchasePurchasing form this company can at times be frustrating due to items never arriving, very low shipping time and the inability to track the items. But I gave them another chance and purchased many maps and books over the past few months and have received all of them. Last year, it was hit and miss. All items were in the condition as described. Packaging is minimal. The only downside is extremely slow shipping. I rate them a C+. Nothing to gloat about but eventually you will get what you wanted.
