Interesting radio
It is a small smart looking radio which looks decent quality. I choose this because I didn't want a scanner that really needs software to enter frequencies (although you can use software for this one) Reading the instruction book before switching it on I was surprised and disappointed to find that the two AA batteries it requires for back up power would only last about 24 hours according to Uniden, this of course meant you would need to leave it powered up to the mains or change the batteries everyday! Luckily the batteries appear to operate the digital clock, and the frequencies are not lost when there is no power. Five days later the batteries failed and when the radio powered off and then back on the clock had stopped but nothing else seemed amiss. As I had bought this radio for the ... As I had bought this radio for the scanner features and not the FM radio and least of all the clock, I happily run without batteries, why this set up was introduced beats me. The speaker though small gives a nice clear tone but I would prefer a bit more bass to it personally. The radio is very sensitive on the marine band and picks up distant signals my previous radio wouldn't. On the whole I am quite happy with this purchase.
