1989 F150 4x4 oem quad shock upper mount with Moog hd front coils or using a rough country leveling spring
I have leveled several 4wd F150’s over the years with the moog variable rate hd front springs. Never once have I been able to achieve proper specs on the alignment rack with any other brand of adjustable caster/camber shim for these trucks. Have spent 100’s of dollars over the years trying different brands. I own a repair shop and work on a lot of this particular body style truck as I am from a farm community. There have been several trucks that I have went through and replaced everything. I mean every bushing and joint Ford put on these funky twin I beams. Still I could never achieve proper specs until these shims I have recently purchased. Basically the moog spring is very close to the rough county “leveling” front coil. I understand that that every truck is a little different and you ... I have leveled several 4wd F150’s over the years with the moog variable rate hd front springs. I understand that that every truck is a little different and you might have a different experience but I’m here to tell you these offer the most adjustably I have been able to find. I will be buying another set of these as I own a few of these trucks personally that we use around the farm and have the same springs under them. I wanted to use these on a fresh set of springs straight out of the box first since that will be the case at work when I put another set of springs under a customers truck. I personally like to wait 500 miles before I align a truck with a new set of springs as they will settle some with time and use depending on where/how you drive. Our case out here in the sticks there are plenty of dirt roads with massive potholes and with washouts to break them in. I know this is a long write up but just wanted to save the headache for someone else as I have not “always” owned my own shop and had the privilege of having my own alignment rack to spend hrs upon hrs on. I have dumped a lot of money at shops paying for alignment’s on these trucks over the years to have them come out to the waiting room and tell me come look at these numbers. We can’t get it any closer to spec, you are maxed out.
