Fearlessly, they demonstrate the possibility of picking up a handkerchief without dismounting, of riding backwards while seated on the handlebar, and of 'standing on saddle, hands off!' They even make perfectly clear that, for two able cyclists with the inclination and a length of wooden pole, it was quite possible to bear aloft a clown while mounted.

A delightful and unexpected, Edwardian cycling delight.
A quirky little book, packed with some nice photographs. As a 'Veteran' cyclist (the cycle not me!)I recognized quite a few of the machines featured, quite unbelivable the stunts these entrepid Edwardians got up to. I wouldn't fancy trying some of these today, not unless I wore a fully padded suit. The text of very much of its time, but still quite readable once you get used to it All in all an amusing little book, full of fun, and one I can heartily recommend for those quiet moments. recommend for those quite moments.A quirky little book, packed with some nice photographs.
