Reviews
3.5 stars out of 5 -- "The music takes its time. 'Pneuma' has a pulse that suggests the measured rhythm of yogic breathing: a snaking, vaguely Arabic synth tone appears, then slithers off; heavy metal crescendos and feedback-glazed diminuendos rise and fall like abstracted Led Zeppelin.", 5 stars out of 5 -- "The Los Angeles progressive group's first album in 13 years is, at times, a languid and blissful work – one that will richly reward future listens.", "The songwriting is thick with imagery, long solos, sounds created by instruments that no one else really uses, ambiguous lyrics and constantly changing time signatures that will catch you tapping along out of time, even if you have perfect rhythm.", "Tool’s first album in 13 years is completely deserving of your undivided attention, the clearest route from your head to your heart."

Tool have certainly not lost their magic!

In my opinion Tool is the best band that the world has ever encountered, so I could be considered biased, however, the magnificence of this music speaks for itself. It's almost cinematic in its arrangement & as with almost all Tool music kind of hypnotic. The vocals & lyrics are beautiful & inspiring as I have come to expect from anything this group of people produce. All the tracks are remarkable with the possible exception of Chocolate Chip Trip which I would have preferred to be replaced by Legion Inoculant. ( That track, Mocking Beat & Litanie Contre La Peur are not on this album.) That said the pure magic of Tempest, Pnuema & all of the other tracks is entrancing. It's a very mature album, but Tool have lost none of their edge. I Highly recommend this album. If you like Tool you must ...

  • Better value version

It's a good album, I actually heard it online before deciding to buy. This version is slightly better value than the 1st one with the built in screen, which was a rip off! This version is still a bit pricey for what it is, but if you hunt around, their are cheaper ones out there. The lenticular art cards are cool.

  • Masterpiece

I haven't heard about Tool before. After this album I have bought 3 more and probably won't stop ;) Excellent compositions, awesome graphics inside and amazing sound quality. Worth every penny! My discovery of the decade.

  • excellent

Great album after 13 years hiatus. Not as heavy as previous efforts but more ambient.
