Quality -v- quantity
Unless you are over a certain age, 24 hr tv is the norm. That is how it is, and possibly how it always was. Well, no. Having to endure wall-to-wall banality just to keep channels on the air is not how it used to be, nor was everything tx'd in the good old days perfect beyond criticism. It is undeniable that the old way of having fewer hours meant the butter could be spread more thickly rather than in the fashion of very thin gruel now, and one of the highlights was programmes such as DoDG. It is however fair to say that in these currently available episodes - welcome as they are - the march toward the trend of sensationalism trumping all other considerations is becoming clear. The good old days
I always liked Dixon of Dock Green as a lad so now old I m enjoying it again lits of nostalgic scenes and Jack Warner was a brilliant character actor. At this price you can't go wrong

Trip Down Memory Lane
I bought this because I remember watching it as a kid and more to the point after watching the first few episodes I realised that George Dixon reminded me very, very much of my grandfather including the hair style and his gentle approach to everything. It took me back to the time when policing was not about CCTV and mobile phone footage but a bit of luck and hard slog (not that todays police work isn't a different kind of hard slog). I kept thinking that the fictional area of Dock Green probably now has some of the most expensive property in London built on it! Memories
Most enjoyable viewing. Time travel does exist. I can remember watching this years ago on a Saturday night. Superb easy going drama that's much less stressful than a lot of todays action packed offerings.
