Worth a look
This is funny, despite the fact Eddie Murphy had started nurturing his irritating obsession with playing multiple roles when he made it. The plot is far-fetched (it's a daft comedy, so what?) but a lot of fun, Steve Martin and the supporting cast - including Heather Graham, looking luminous - are terrific, and the jokes come thick and fast; though they all revolve around the same single theme: managing to have Kit Ramsay (the "world's biggest movie star", played by Mr. Murphy, who else?) appear in a no-budget alien movie - brilliantly entitled,"Chubby Rain" - without realising he's doing so. It's a little like Get Shorty with less crime and more jokes, including a sly dig at Scientology, through an organisation called "Mindhead" run by Terence Stamp's character; which is appropriate since ... I bought it because I had seen it before and enjoyed it then. Film is one of the funniest films Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy ever made, especially the bit when Eddie has to cross an 8 lane freeway. Absolutely brilliant. Best thing is it's cheaper than renting and you get to keep or resell it.

I have watched this movie six times or more and it still makes me laugh out loud. Great performances and a brilliant script. Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy at their best.
