      Superb study!

      This is a fantastic guide to the subject. It is packed full of illustrations and diagrams. I had the older edition many years ago and foolishly gave it away. This latest edition is fantastic value and a first class guide for wargamers and students of ancient warfare.

      Outstanding & lavishly illustrated

      This is an excellent & comprehensive study of Greco-Roman warfare, well researched & extensively illustrated in full colour. I first bought a copy c.1980 & used it nearly to destruction before giving it away, but it is SO good I had to get another copy, especially as it's a revised version & can be had at bargin prices today. It is a real classic on the subject from the foundation of Rome to the demise of the western empire. Carthage is also covered for the Punic wars. It covers the Persian-Greek wars, Peloponesian, rise of Thebes, Macedon & Alexanders campaigns, his successors, the Gallic wars, Roman empire.... right up to the Hunnic empire, German successor kingdoms etc. If you would like just one good book to cover the era I'd thoroughly recommend this.
