About this product

Product Information

A modern cult classic, a major motion picture and a timeless bestseller, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story. Charlie is not the biggest geek in high school, but he's by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it, Charlie is attempting to navigate through the uncharted territory of high school. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and music - when all one requires to feel infinite is that perfect song on that perfect drive. Standing on the fringes of life Charlie has a unique perspective of the world around him, but there comes a time to stop being a wallflower and see what it looks like from the dance floor. This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion has become a modern classic. Charlie's letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating and through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up. 'Chobsky captures adolescent angst, confusion and joy... Compelling.' Booklist 'This wistful, sensitive novel perfectly captures the uncertainty and excitement of adolescence, and has become a deserving modern classic.' Scottish Book Trust 'A coming-of-age tale in the tradition of THE CATCHER IN THE RYE and A SEPARATE PEACE... [Chbosky's] poignant reflections on life, love and friendship are often inspirational and always beautifully written.' USA Today

  • The best money I've spent all year long. A mind-blowing piece of literature

I bought this book because I had watched the movie and adored it ad wished to read the book, just to get the original story-line in my mind instead of just the movie-version. Not only was I surprised at how well it was written and how drawn-in I felt to the narrative, but I also found myself laughing out loud and crying my eyes out at certain points of the story. I always feel that if a piece of literature can make you react in such a way both emotionally and physically then you've got a brilliant book in your hands. If I ever lose my first copy I'd definitely buy a copy to replace it, or even buy a copy for a friend.

  • Awesome product!

I heard of the Perks of being a wallflower film and before I watching the film I wanted to read the book first, that's why I bought it. Another reason for buying the book is because it was really cheap and its cover is really beautiful and different than other covers, unique. There isn't a thing I dislike about this book. My opinion about the product is absolutely 100% positive and I would surely buy it again.

  • Highly Recommended, have to read it in your life time.

I bought this product, not because of the film but because of the book reviews and its mention in the 'book hauls' on YouTube. - It was a reasonable £6.99 purchase. Although my sister watched the movie and found it 'boring', I still decided to read the book because most of the time the scenes that you think are more important and should have been in the film, never make it. Same thing happened with this one, there are critical scenes or information that was given in the book that was no where to be found in the movie. The book is a set of letters wrote by the a a high school kid called Charlie who is a freshmen at a college in America. Life in this book is described more closely, giving important stuff more detail and other things that you don't want to know about are left out. The ...
