Thoroughly entertaining- we laughed; we cried.

You can't go wrong with Ken Burns or baseball- so we love this collection. Watching the birth of the game and its progression is a great source of entertainment. The cast of critics is first rate- from poet donald Hall to player Curt Flood, Burns handily gives a generous peek at the ins and outs of our beloved national pastime. Even the music is perfect. There's much to be learned from this documentary, whether you are a die hard baseball fan, or just learning about it. One of my favorite documentarians, Burns never just tells you the story, he shows you how it unfolded. I recommend this for anyone who has ever dreamed of being an athlete.

  • When It Was Truly "A Game"

This truly wonderful presentation of the "Spirit" that so many of us shared should be placed into The Museum of Life and it should also be required watching in school. You will be happy that you had taken the time to watch this series because it truly gave me the fortitude that I remembered and needed throughout my minor league signing opportunity to experience and feel the "Spirit" of BASEBALL FIRST HAND!!

  • Burns hits a homer

I watched it when it first aired on PBS and it has aged well. The extra inning addition brings it more up to date

  • Another superb work from the ultimate American historian

Another superb effort from Ken Burns, whom I think is America's best filmmaker. Once again, the interviewees are engaging, the content is thorough, and the overall effort is thoughtful and really well presented. Even non-baseball fans will appreciate the set because at its core is stories about people and American culture. Burns' style is the ideal way to tell history. If you've seen any of his other works, you won't be disappointed in Baseball.
