About this product

Product Information

The dazzling companion volume to the bestselling MYTHOS. There are heroes - and then there are Greek heroes Few mere mortals have ever embarked on such bold and heart-stirring adventures, overcome myriad monstrous perils, or outwitted scheming vengeful gods, quite as stylishly and triumphantly as Greek heroes. In this companion to his bestselling Mythos, Stephen Fry brilliantly retells these dramatic, funny, tragic and timeless tales. Join Jason aboard the Argo as he quests for the Golden Fleece. See Atalanta - who was raised by bears - outrun any man before being tricked with golden apples. Witness wily Oedipus solve the riddle of the Sphinx and discover how Bellerophon captures the winged horse Pegasus to help him slay the monster Chimera. Heroes is the story of what we mortals are truly capable of - at our worst and our very best.

Seller sent my book with a completely different cover from the one advertised—which arrived slightly damaged from being sent in a flimsy plastic bag— I had to then explain to them how the picture of the book for sale, should be the book the buyer receives; that is the book they ordered and are expecting. The seller arranged a return, but after receiving the book back, made me wait for a long time, and send them several messages without reply, before eventually refunding me. Poor, unprofessional.

The seller sent a different edition to the one advertised in the photo. The edition they sent is the standard current one which I could’ve easily bought on the high street. The reason I placed the order was because it was an older, possibly out of print edition advertised. I am extremely unhappy with this, and feel that the seller deliberately deceived buyers with this false representation.

Light touch and witty dialogue keeps the narrative moving along.

Lively and informative account of the Heroes around the Myths. Loads of names and plenty of witty dialogue which maintains a light touch on what could be quite a dense narrative.

  • Heroes

Stephen Fry makes mythology accessible to all. It’s amusing and compelling all in one, on what can be a very dry subject.

  • Wish you’d give me time to read itn

To be honest I’m only half way through. Enjoying it but not as good as Mythos.
