This has done the job I intended, and cut decent threads (in hardwood) into a 29/64's drill bit I bought specifically to match this 1/4" tapered BSP tap. (11.5 mm equivalent, though I was tempted to go to a 7/16" drill, as it is marinally smaller and thought might suit wood better) The only thing to be aware off, is the size of the square shank. I have a tap holder that is marked as OK for up to 1/2" taps, however, it is too small for this tap which measures on average 8.6+ mm on each side.
