    Everything you ever wanted to know about 'The Day The Earth Stood Still.

    An Englishman Martian travels to the Earth in peace and threatens mankind with anihilation. The situation is so grave that news presenters must wear hats during broadcasts. Star of the show is the sinister 'Rhoebutt' Gort. He's the infinitely strong silent type who dispenses justice quickly and without emotion. He also has a way with the ladies . This is THE classic Sci Fi movie. Genuinely spine tingling with some great cinematography. There is superb use of light and shadows to create dramatic and truly unsettling images. Good picture quality but alas only in TV aspect ratio 4:3 in this release. A great watch, the inspiration for many to follow.

    Very watchable film with lots of action

    Excellent film. This is the one 1 wanted because it's original good acting, enjoyable and engrossing. I found myself cheering on the spaceman. I'd been looking for this exact film because I'd only seen it once before. Disc came as new display case intact, delivery was excellent delivered in specified time.

    "Klaatu barada nikto"

    So says Michael Rennie (Klaatu) to his protector robot Gort on a visit to earth which is heading towards atomic annihilation! Will they take his warning on board? Great 1950s sci-fi film which I saw way back in the day and never forgot. I bought it recently to pair up with the inferior remake version in 2008 which the grandchildren are more familiar with so they could compare. So spoil yourself and try it out you, like my grandchildren, you wont be disappointed.

    If you are a fan of 1950's science fiction then this timeless gem will surely be one of your favourites. Great issue with some nice extras and a nice replica of the film poster on the front cover. Essential!

    Classic BW sci-fi movie.

    A classic sci-fi movie! I remember this being on TV some years back, but it seems to have disappeared into a broadcasting black hole - so I got this DVD. It's as good as I remember, and now I can watch it whenever I like!
