C. Beaton The team of bells at St. Ethelred church is the pride and glory of the idyllic Cotswolds village of Thirk Magna, together with the most dedicated bell ringers in the whole of England: the twins Mavis and Millicent Dupin. As the village gets ready for the Bishop's visit, the twins get overly-excited at the prospect of ringing the special peal of bells created for the occasion and start bullying the other bell ringers, forcing them to rehearse and rehearse . . . so much so that Joseph Kennell, a retired lawyer, yells at the sisters that he 'felt like killing them'! When the twins' home is broken into one night and Millicent is found dead, struck from a hammer blow, suspicion falls onto the lawyer. Will Agatha unmask the real killer and clear Joseph's name? * Praise for M. C. What Fun a Good Murder Can Be

Pleased with condition of the book. Being hardback, the print is bigger which is good for my failing eyesight. Agatha Raisin is her usual brash, rude but surprisingly insecure self, and it makes me want to visit the Cotswolds again even if there's a surprisingly high incidence of murder when Agatha's around. I read Dead Ringer out of order and I've obviously missed some major developments in her professional and private lives. So best to read them in order, but the main story of each book is self contained. This one kept me guessing till the end, but as a 'cosy murder', it didn't keep me off my sleep.

    I always love the titles.

I adore Agatha Raisin and I will continue to read every future book. My only con is that the humour in all her earlier books has been missing in the last few. Agatha used to be so engaging, amusing, outrageous, hilarious etc and this is the Agatha I know and love but she isn't there any more. Please bring her back?

  • very good title for this book

I have all the Agatha Raisin books I found that they are very good who done it mysteries not to heavy to read also I like the characters in her books. MC Beaton has some good store line also it keeps you guessing who done it till very nearly the end of the book if you like who done it's but don't want to heavy a read but just some old style Agatha Christie Miss Marple type of character you will enjoy the Agatha Raisin mystery books.

  • Another great Agatha Raisin mystery

A lovely read, if only she and Charles would get it together, they came so close. There are murder, criminals if more than one time, and even Agatha’s cats get kidnapped... Gripping enough to keep me reading when I should have been working. A great read.
