There are also chapters on greywater systems, composting toilets, and a unique history of water-borne waste disposal. Until now there has not been a comprehensive, nontechnical book for homeowners about the intricate workings of a septic system --what it is, how it works, and how to maintain and repair it. Peter Aschwanden, illustrator of the celebrated classic How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive, did the informative and witty drawings in the book.     An informative read

    This book explained a lot about septic systems. I liked the idea of creating your own system aside from the main to accept the washers. It is a must read for anyone moving from the city (city sewer) to the country.
