    Way better than a drum machine.

    This thing is awesome! Lots and lots of great sounds, very real sounds. It even sounds good through the built in speakers. The pedals seem a little flimsy, but we will see how they fair with use. It's also very easy to set up and use.

    DID NOT PERFORM AS ADVERTISED.

    There was an electrical short in the product which created too much distortion in the tom pads. Also, the foot pedals worked sometimes and NOT sometimes, you pretty much had to STOMP on them and that's not how I play the drums, EVER. Other times I would would strike another pad and no sound at all would be produced. I have been playing drums since I was 13 and now I'm 64 and I can tell you THIS PRODUCT DID NOT PERFORM LIKE ADVERTISED.

    A great little drum machine, if you could use real drum pedals it would really kick

    The Portasound product line is Yamaha's "consumer" line and given that it will never have some features that are standard in even the lowest end "pro" hardware, like a USB jack or real drum pedals or a way to add your own samples, the DD-75 and the entire DD line are great. Great sound, great pads. Try running the audio out to something better than the built-in speakers (which are pretty good) and try using guitar pedals and effects on it. For me that's where the real fun begins. Oh, and as for MIDI, it is actually a perfectly acceptable drum brain/controller, and is a solid performer. Nothing a professional would scoff at using at all. Easy and reliable. The deal about any Portasound product is that it is suitable for use as a toy or as a serious tool for playing and composing. ...

    Awesome Unit

    This is a great unit. The internal speaker isn't the greatest, but who would expect it to be. If I had this when I was a kid I'd have never have left my room. So many voices and the fact that you can play it like a real set is amazing.

    No adaptor

    I like this Yamaha drums so much but what surprise me that it has no adaptor,,,, The adaptor place in the box is empty. I went back to the description and I found it come without adaptor. Now i have to order one or find music store and go there. Ahhgh That was not professional
