Synopsis
The past twenty years have seen remarkable advances in neuroscience, neurology, imaging techniques, and diagnostic strategies. These advances have been successfully applied to many different diseases, including thiamine deficiency and associated clinical disorders. Syndromes such as beriberi, Wernicke's disease, Leigh's disease, African Seasonal Ataxia, and various inherited ataxias, have all benefited from improved scientific approaches. Thiamine Deficiency and Associated Clinical Disorders represents an intriguing area of both basic and clinical investigation. Modern imaging and diagnostic strategies have facilitated the rapid treatment, and potential reversal of these clinical disorders. The fusion of laboratory and clinical knowledge serve as an example of how research can translate to successful treatment. This book is designed to bring together cogent results from both basic and clinical investigation. These data will be of interest to neurologists, internists, nutritionists, biochemists, neurochemists, neuroscientists, and many others with interest in thiamine deficiency. About the Author: Dr. David W. McCandless is the John J. Sheinin Professor of Anatomy in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at The Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University, North Chicago, IL, USA. He has over 35 years of laboratory research into basic mechanisms of various metabolic encephalopathies. He serves as Editor-in Chief of the journal Metabolic Brain Disease (Springer), now in its 25th year. Dr. McCandless has been on the faculty or research staff at The University of Vermont College of Medicine, NIH-NINCDS, University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and The Chicago Medical School, and was a visiting professor at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. McCandless has published in journals such as The J. Clinical Investigation, Nature, Proc. National Academy of Sciences, Amer. J. of Physiology, Brain Research, J. Neurochemistry, Teratology, Epilepsia, Stroke, and many others., Modern imaging has facilitated the rapid treatment of clinical disorders related to thiamine deficiency. This book documents that treatment, showing how the fusion of laboratory and clinical knowledge can translate research into successful treatment., Thiamine deficiency and related clinical disorders represent an intriguing area of both basic and clinical investigation. Modern imaging strategies have facilitated the rapid treatment, and potential reversal of these clinical disorders. The fusion of laboratory and clinical knowledge serve as an example of how research can translate to successful treatment. The goal of Thiamine Deficiency and Related Clinical Disorders is to bring together cogent results from basic and clinical investigation and to stimulate further investigations in these areas. This data will be useful to neurologists, internists, nutritionists, biochemists, neurochemists, neuroscientists, and others with interest in thiamine deficiency.

Book arrived today, 2 days before deadline given by the seller. Well-packaged & in good condition. Price was very competitive, & the book was accurately listed. Great communication. I appreciate the seller getting back to me when I was having trouble tracking the book's delivery progress. Apparently there were 2 different tracking numbers - one in Canada & the other in the U.S., since it was initially shipped from Canada. Thank you very much for your quick response & helpful information.

Seller handles a massive inventory so I give them grace on the slow processing and shipping. They were very communicative and prompt with their response when I messaged in asking about it. Book was in good condition as described. Small ding on the page edges which wasn't mentioned, but that's fairly common even at your typical book store. Still a good value and I'd buy from them again.
