    Yes, Life can be challenging.

I do not usually care for romances, not because I don't like romance. Romance is the stuff so many of our lives are made from, and enriched by. BUT, often, when someone writes a screenplay, directs a film with "Romance" as one of its elements, all the other ingredients in the film suffer from what is called "radial distortion" in aerial photography. In other words, everything else becomes distorted and pulled out of shape by the romantic element. This is a beautiful and heart-warming film: well-directed, well-cast, well-acted, and well-filmed. And most importantly, though there is the romantic element to be sure, it does not subordinate all the other essential parts of the film to what is progressing romantically. I found this a truly refreshing and eminently watchable film, yes, one that ...

Fair, but not better than The Note book.

I kept waiting for that wonderous moment that helped me to discover why this was nominated best love story of the year. The Note book had way more twist and turns to the romantic relationships. This one between her Brooklyn husband and Irish lover were not jolty enough for me. Good cast though. It made me laugh and think at times.

  • Beautiful Adaption! Watch it!!

While I have yet to find a movie that measures up to the movie, The Notebook, but it was still a fantastic love story. I can see how it won so many awards in 2016. It is about a young woman coming over from Ireland to New York City and being torn between to men (one in Ireland and the other in Brooklyn/NYC). The movie is a beautiful adaption from book to screen.

  • Interesting Storyline

I learned about the film "Brooklyn" from friends whose parents came to the USA from Ireland in the 1920's. They loved the plot and encouraged me to purchase the DVD. A great decision!

  • Unforgetable and very moving.

Can't think of any cons. I'm not fond of many "modern" movies, but this is one of the best of the last ten years. I think it's quite unforgetable, especially since I, like so many people, are first generation Americans.
