AirPods don’t connect to my iPhone, despite other genuine sets connecting without issue. My software is up to date, that’s not the issue.
They do connect to an iPad, but sound extremely tinny, almost unusable.
Seller didn’t really want to help. They offered a £5 refund, which doesn’t really help, when I’ve spent £23.99.
I won’t go near this seller again.

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your AirPods. Since they connect to an iPad but have poor sound quality, it might be worth trying to reset them and reconnect to both devices.
