  • A wonderful evocation of the New Forest

I bought this long forgotten book as I now live close to the house called Arnwood where Captain Marryat lived and from which he drew inspiration. It gives such an atmospheric impression of the wonderful New Forest of the past, which still resonates as I walk in the Forest today. Well worthva read for anyone who loves this magical corner of England.

  • A childhood memory 🫶

Fantastic book. I first read it as a child in the 1960s. The TV drama back then, was a favourite of mine.

  • Super story

Great book. It's a good read for young adults and even adults that remember the tv series. A good adventure story and introduction to learning about the civil war.
