A nce upgrade!
The LED and larger reflector really make the old lamp a lot better. I don't really like thesmaller diameter spring for the batteries, but it gets the job done of keeping the connection. The button at the back also shakes from side to side, which makes it feel cheap - but now I figured it also probably helps keeping the button from snapping off, and also engaging the switch from any angle. The delivery was much quicker than anticipated. The push button on/off switch is quite small but is flimsy and rattles around. The actually bulb mounting for the conversion and new reflector don't fit well into the torch. I'm guessing my mini mag is an older type and this kit is made for a newer one, failing that whoever measured up the replacement parts can't make some simple measurements. Useful in parts
I was attracted to this item because it came with a new reflector which is shorter than the original, this gives more room for the disc at the base of the LED bulb. However, the disc on the supplied bulb is even thicker than the one that I had already, so I gained no advantage if I fitted both. The light output is not as good as my current LED replacement bulb, purchased a couple of years ago. In the end, I used my original bulb and the new reflector, which gave an improvement. The push button on-off switch in the replacement base cap is good, if you want to use it, personally, I don't - it is a good fit and works well, although lacks any means of lanyard attachment.I was attracted to this item because it came with a new reflector which is shorter than the original, this gives more room for the disc at the base of the LED bulb. Maglite Conversion
This is my second purchase of this conversion kit. I was that pleased with the difference made to my Standard AA Maglite I immediately sent for a second. Very easy to make the conversion, if you can change batteries then this conversion is child's play. The difference in light quality is quantum, brighter and further. Brought new life to my aging Maglite's. I use one with a night time red filter and this has produced the same improvements in light quality. I would recommend anyone to make the conversion..This is my second purchase of this conversion kit. The LED is a lot brighter than the original filament bulb,and should in theory last longer. The base switch has a positive ,strong spring action,and enables the focus of the beam to be maintained. There's no hole for a wrist strap though,but I don't mind this
