The song, "Hook in her head" by the Throwing Muses is complicated musically, competently realized, hard rock. The mixture of elements in the music is a treat for the mind. It's like suddenly understanding a new language. Exciting and original. Bowie's older work is the closest parallel that can be drawn. It's inspired and not boring in the least. Almost every song on this album has merit. It's true blue, quintessential rock. Intelligent music.
Love this album, it never disappoints. Tanya Donelly and Kristin Hersch at their peak. Had the cassette in 1991, and needed to upgrade to the CD.

Many albums are just thrown together, but in this case the story sounds and subjects were matched, linked, and the album flows as each story "seems to link" to the one before it and to build for the one following it. The interesting result is that the album "as a whole" is better than the songs, one by one. If you like Throwing Muses, buy it.
