Ultimate Fighter season one was interesting to watch. With so much testosterone flying around you were ready to see action from the opening credit. Randy Couture and Chuck Lidell were the two coaches that were there to bring this competition to a hard core boil. That did not happen. The coaches, with such different coaching styles, were basically there for our amusement. Randy did basically nothing but laugh about his losing team with each challenge they lost. Lidell did the chest beating with each victory. there was no boundary that the fighters could not pass even when you had one, Leban, peeing on someones bed, leaving the house against the rules, and wrecking havoc on doors and windows. Bobby Southworth, who could be seen as a good fighter, showed himself as a bully, and a man with no morals. The only two fighters that were actually there to fighter and become the Ultimate Fighter were Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin. And that is exactly what they became, the two of them being awarded the six figure contract and the title. Even Diego Sanchez, who also won Ultimate Fighter, was nothing more than a braggard with a good take down. Dana White, the President, needs to step up and show exactly what UFC is all about. At many times he is just to smiley and wishywashy. You are not their friend, you are their boss. Act like one. I purchased this DVD because I am a die hard UFC fan. I would recommend it to anyone who want to learn more about the sport, but I would advise them not be expect much more from season two. Season three was by far the best season. Watch and see.Read full review
The Ultimate Fighte - Season 1 The show that started it all!!! Growing up I was a huge fan of the UFC, I never saw an event live or anything like that, but every month or so I'd head to the video store and pick up the new UFC VHS. Being from a small town (less than 7000 people) I only have one video store to choose from, and that video store stopped bringing in new UFC videos after UFC 21. I hadn't watched any recent UFCs since 2002 as I didn't have access to them, however, I did see many of the main events and co-main events thanks to a friend of mine who had satellite. All of this changed when Spike TV released the first episode of TUF. I've been re-hooked on MMA since then. It wasn't just the fights that I loved, but getting to see the fighters train, eat, sleep, and react with one another. Many long-time MMA fans dislike TUF, for one reason or another, but I love it. Sure some of the guys on the show don't belong anywhere near the octagon, but several fighters from each season look like they belong in Championship fights, not just unaired pre-card bouts. Pros: - The price (Bought mine for $39.99, which I think is incredibly cheap) - Overall Value of the DVDs - The show is amazing - TUF Finale has one of the most exiciting fights in MMA history (MMA fans keep in mind I said exciting, not technical, just a pure adrenaline rush) - Forrest Griffin, Kenny Florian, and Diego Sanchez - Great DVD to lend to your "MMA Newbie" Friends - Offers great insight into a fighters lifestyle - Portrays MMA in a positive light Cons: - Bonus features are somewhat lacking - Chris Lebens drunken rampage Final Verdict: 5/5 TUF - Season 1 brought MMA into the mainstream, and had people talking about MMA at work, at home, at church, and pretty much everywhere else. This was by far the best season of TUF to date, with Season 3 coming in a close second. Rent or Buy: Buy If you're a seasoned MMA fan or brand-new to the sport, TUF - Season 1 belongs in your DVD collection. PLEASE VOTE IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL. Thank you.Read full review
Normally, I watch very few reality-TV shows; the market's just too over-saturated. But this series is fresh and definitely different; where else are you gonna' see unranked fighters at their most raw and raunchy tryin' to bust into that six figure UFC contract? Having been away from UFC matches for a couple of years, I didn't initially start watching the show 'til Season 2, and I was all up in Season 3; mainly because of the feud between Ortiz and Shamrock...and we all saw how that turned out! Gotta' say that overall, with the exception of my boy Michael Bisping (Season 3), I was more impressed by the fighters I saw in Season 1 than any other season; there was a LOT of REAL f*ckin' talent there. And, as always, a couple of suprises along the way, too. You GOTTA' check it out!!
This is some of the better fighters of this series. Plus it has the best fight between Forrest and Bonner. Gives you a great insight of the UFC, yes they are first timers in the UFC but this is a good insight that you don't get from Spike's Unleased or The PPVs. So if you are a fan of the UFC and if you have seen it or haven't you still want to see it again. Plus prelim fights are on here.
Tuf is such an amazing show youd be crazy not to own these sets!! As real as it gets :)
