About this product

Product Information

Postman Larry Griffin vanishes during his rounds in Stradbally on Christmas Day 1929. The only clue to what happened was an abandoned bicycle on a deserted country road. The story of the Missing Postman as it became known, made the headlines nationally and overseas, when ten prominent local people were arrested and charged with his murder. The defendants included such pillars of the community as two local Civic Guards, the school teacher, the local publican, his wife and two of their children. &newpara; For eighty years the doors of Stradbally and the Garda files on the case remained firmly shut against anyone trying to investigate the story. Numerous successful libel actions taken by the former defendants further discouraged media interest. However all those involved have passed on. Government files, which cast new light on the case, have recently become available, and in this extraordinary new book, O Drisceoil weaves the pieces of the puzzle togther, and reveals the shocking answer to the question - What really happened to Larry Griffin?

Great item, exactly as described. The packaging was very poor but item arrived undamaged. Communications and dispatch time were also poor but overall a successful transaction.

Pros - polite communication, low prices, generous discount offered for damaged book. Cons - very slow communication which tends to be generic and promises much but delivers little, heavy book was sent in a jiffy bag and arrived damaged, had to get Ebay involved to action the promised partial refund. Summary - 'pile it high and sell it cheap' organisation which is unable to provide efficient customer service and makes the mistake of not packaging books correctly. Will not buy from them again.

Happy with item , communication with seller and price . some feedback for buyers and seller ,item came in a thin single layer bubble wrap envelope when it is a heavy ,easily damageable item , lucky it was intact and undamaged , and second item came faster than date once purchased but was listed at 3-5 days which wasn't exactly accurate

  • Full story of incident.

Had been to the actual pub where the postman was murdered and was shown the exact spot where he died. Wanted to read the whole story instead of snip bits.

  • Excellent book, a true unsolved mystery. 100% happy with purchase and will buy more from them

The book was about an unsolved murder of a postman in 1929 in Ireland. It is still an unsolved crime. Compelling reading for historians.
