Fun! Note re Dutch spoken in The Netherlands and in Flanders
Dummies language books are well structured and fun to use. Specific note Dutch learners might want to be aware of: This course has been developed by a Dutch author, i.e. from The Netherlands, as opposed to a Flemish one, i.e. from Flanders, the region in Belgium which shares the Dutch language with The Netherlands. Subsequently, the accent in the phonetic transcription as well as on the cd is 'northern Dutch' as opposed to the (softer) Flemish one. E.g. the 's' and the 'ij' are affected by this. I will not recommend this book to other people
It is not a book to learn Dutch on a good way. I am dutch and there are a lot off words wrong. And there where street words in the book that no dutchman will used.
