Poor Sound Quality
Normally, any album by The Who is an automatic 5 stars as far as I'm concerned, but "Paris 1970" is very disappointing. As you would imagine, this is another one of the many unofficial Who releases (this one's on the Timeline label) that have been springing up over the past few years. Many of them are very good, but some are not, and this is one of them. First of all the positives. On the surface, this seemed to be a really good buy; another live show from an era when The Who were on fire. It's a double CD with a typical track listing from this period in the band's career, Tommy plus the usual concert standards from that time. The packaging is actually excellent; a very sturdy gate fold digipack with booklet, and apart from some anomalies with the track listing for disc 2, it would have ... Unfortunately, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. While it isn't as bad as the truly appalling "Live At The Warehouse - New Orleans" it isn't exactly good either. If you are a completist and Who freak, you will probably want this for the collection, but I doubt you will be playing it twice.
