    It is a reminder of the good old days for me. Perhaps not for many however !!!

    I remember watchng the odd episode of Upstairs Downstairs many many years ago and it reminded me of my life as 9 years old boywhen I lived at home. I saw an episode on aTV channel recently and that rekindled my memories and I wondered if I could find the whole series on e-bay. I did and I have enjoyed every minute of it so far. It is a seies I shall treasure for the rest of life.

    Upstairs Downstairs - History Re-visited

    We bought this DVD collection for nostalgic reasons. We were avid fans of Upstairs Downstairs when it was screened years ago and especially of Gordon Jackson who was so perfect in the role of Hudson. Having "gone digital" recently and investing in a fancy new VCR/DVD/hard drive combo unit to augment a Virgin + box we thought it an idea to purchase the series. It certainly takes one back to the good, in fact GREAT days of television. Quality is superb and seeing the program on a 42" set certainly beats the heck out of the TV's of 30 odd years ago. We seldom have purchased DVD's or in fact VCR taped programs so have litle to go on for comparison except to say we are impressed. Would I buy it again? No - because you only need it the once. Would I buy similar? ...

    Good oldfashioned stories

    Although some of the stories are in black and white, it doesn't detract from them. Haven't watched all of the discs yet, but am enjoying the ones that I did.

    Great nostalga binge.

    Yes you can tell this is originally 1970s video tape. Some of the earlier shows were even recorded in Black & White because of some industrial action (over using the 'new' colour cameras I believe). But it is still a cracking good watch even after all this time. What would have been fun (as an option) would have been the chance to watch the original 1970s adverts in the commercial breaks too.

    A great insight into life up and below stairs. I used to watch this with my Nan as a child, lovely memories. The characters and storylines are brilliant.
