About this product

Product Information

Garrison Keillor returns to the little town we love and continues to chronicle the lives of our favorite folks. Lake Wobegon is in a frenzy of preparations for the Fourth of July. This being Wobegon, lives collide and relationships develop in the oddest ways. Take Clint Bunson, the treasurer of the Lutheran church and the auto mechanic who starts cars on below-zero mornings. For six years, he has run the Fourth of July parade, turning what was once a line of pickup trucks into an event of dazzling spectacle. The town is dizzy with anticipation-until they hear of Clint's ambition to run for Congress. They know about his episodes with vodka sours, his rocky marriage, and his friendship with the 24-year-old who dresses up as the Statue of Liberty for the parade and may be buck naked beneath her robes. In Keillor's words, It is Lake Wobegon as you imagined it-good loving people who drive each other crazy.

  • Another story book Wobegon melodrama - a lot of fun

Die hard Keillor fans will love and appreciate this book. A harvest of lyrical whimsical and downright beautiful images; of landscapes and characters that only he can grow. Personally I enjoyed last year's Pontoon. I found it more engrossing. It was a nice look behind the scenes of Lake Wobegon; the principle characters we not regulars on 'news from lake wobegon'; Sure, all the regulars were mentioned, but not much. I found them as comfortable background noise. As for Liberty, good book that made me laugh. The rather detailed sexual aspects of the story were a bit surprising. Im not a prude, by far; it just caught me of guard. Hope this review helped

  • A great book!

This was a great book, to listen to.. kept ya going with main character and laughing all the way.. I know being a senior that what he was feeling was, damn close to what we'd all feel!
