The New Rebellion is a book written by Kristine Kathryn Rusch. It was released in hardcover format by Bantam Spectra books in 1996. They then released a softcover book in October of 1997. This Star Wars book is a fast paced thriller. It starts out with a new senate term in the New Republic. Princess Leia Organa starts a speech, one that will set the mood for the new term. Suddenly, the Senate Hall explodes. Some senators die, and some survive. The mood was indeed set. Leia blames the new Imperial senators. Meanwhile, everyone goes about following leads on suspects. Han Solo finds himself going back to his roots, Smuggler's Run. He meets trouble, and another bombing (this one wasn't supposed to happen). Luke Skywalker follows a separate investigation, meeting former Jedi students gone awry. Meanwhile, on Courscant, Leia is fighting battles of her own. The new Imperial senators threaten the unity of the Republic, and Leia finds herself fighting an uphill battle with her few remaining supporters to keep the Republic together. The Imperials implicate Han with the bombing. Meanwhile, Luke's quest takes him to the shadowy planet of Almania, where another Force-sensitive student is waiting. He is skilled in the Dark Side of the Force. Leia, Luke, and Han's paths meet in an ending that you will never forget. I liked many things about this book: 1. Its fast paced plot 2. The author's details made me feel as if I was actually in the story, feeling the character's fears and pains 3. The story was captivating, making you want to read on until the end 4. The large mystery surrounding the explosions, and its eventual outcome I loved this book for its great plot, the involving characters, and my personal love of the Star Wars world. 5/5 Latsyrhc Tamarack CollectiblesRead full review
